AND
WE'RE OFF!
After weeks of preparation the day for the"Kenya leg"
of the Kendica International Sport's Event finally arrived. The
sun was shining (in between the clouds- it is winter!) and competitors,
guests and spectators gathered in eager anticipation- have they
forgotten anything?!
The choir got everything off to a wonderful start leading the
rest of the school in 3 rousing songs to complete the opening
ceremony. For once no one complained about the warm up.
The Potato and Spoon races for classes 1-3 went smoothly- after
some slight controversey in class 3, and the Nursery Dash generated
the loudest cheers of the day- almost! A surprise Adults Potato
and Spoon race had been added to the order of events- won by
Dylan and Ali- causing great amusement.
The whole school then went out to the "track" to support
the highlight International 800m races. There was fierce competition
in each age group, boys and girls- a credit to all their hard
work over the last 8 weeks.
A short "recovery" walk back down to the school and
was everyone was sufficiently revived to be able to end the
Games with a raucus version of the "Okey Cokey"- kids
and adults alike, before settleing down for prize giving and
refreshments. |

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITORS
At Trevelyan Middle School, Windsor the pupils got a head
start holding their events during a week of sports and competitions
right at the beginning of the month. Will it be reflected
in the results?! Photos and reports from Trevelyan will appear
here as soon as possible but in the meantime can be found
on their own website www.trevelyan.org.uk.
Students at Tividale Comprehensive are competing on the 12th
of July- best of luck and hope it all goes as well as our
afternoon here. Again news and pictures soon to be included
....watch this space!
In addition to allowing us to have the international flavour
for our race we also much appreciate the efforts all the U.K
students in being sponsored to participate and raising extra
funds with raffles and contributions. I look forward to visiting
you in September with some surprises of our own courtesy of
the Kenyan AAA.
In the meantime thanks again and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

counts! Our prize giving ceremony, after the celebratory (and
fortunately no casualties!) "Okey Cokey" end game,
was therefore, much enjoyed by everyone. There were Certificates
of Merit for each competitor and (much more appreciated!)
soda's, biscuits and sweets for all.
Potato and Spoon Race - in class 1 first prize went to Claire
and Mercy, the winning pair in class 2 were Zac and Simon
and after some potato dropping confusion the winners in class
3 were Bryan and Paul.
International 800m - In the U15's the boy's race was won by
Antony with a time of 2.29 and in a desperate finish, Monica,
snatched 1st place from an exhausted Hannah. First prize in
the U13 boys went to David, and Lena convincingly won the
girls race with a time of 2.48. In a hotly contested battle
to the line Kevin was the victor in the U12 boy's and Esther
